Most Mt. Gramos trails, as the ones we suggested above,
are clean, well marked and additional equipment is not
necessary. But, in the Gramos alpine areas, the weather
is rather cold and unpredictable, even during the
summer, the wind is always strong and appropriate
clothes are necessary. Storms and lightning can be
dangerous, especially in the flat, treeless alpine
meadows and hikes during periods of bad weather
should be avoided.
Naturally, we have nothing to fear
from wild animals and if we come across herd dogs all
we have to do is stay calm.
This way we can enjoy our hikes on the Gramos
Mountain with safety but always consistently and with
respect.
Let us make our presence as discreet as
possible: noise and every form of aggravation can have
damaging effects on wildlife. In general, let us try to
not act as invaders/conquerors nor as passive observers.
Let us actively explore the land, discover traces, small
organisms, details that provide a different feel and
relation with the landscape.
